MUME Help
BRIEF, CHANGE BRIEF, CHANGE SPAM, SPAM
Spam is a familiar problem with net-traffic and
depending upon your situation in the game, can be totally disabling. To
combat this you can use
change spam
to tweak
settings. We fully encourage everyone to use these settings.
(These settings used to be available as change brief
.)
What it does
To see your current settings:
> change spam
To change a setting:
> change spam <field> [on|off]
where <field>
can be one of:
all | Enable all spam fields. |
none | Disable all spam fields. |
speech | Won't show your own speech. |
description |
Won't show room descriptions on look .
Unless you are very familiar with the area in
which you travel, however, it is not advisable to use this command.
Frequently, you will find small, but vital hints in
the descriptions of the rooms. More attention to your surroundings could
mean the difference between life and death!
|
fight | Missed fight messages are not sent except the message of the first attack. |
group | While moving with your group, you will only see the leader move (the one you are following) not the entrances/leaves of all the group. |
language | Won't show you what language other people are speaking, provided that they aren't speaking the same language as you and that you know the language being spoken well enough. |
mount | Won't show ridden mounts in a room (since they are already shown with their rider description). |
weapon | Won't show wielded weapons in a room. |
detect |
Won't show the auras of objects
and people in a room and on worn
equipment .
Sanctuary is always shown due to its gameplay
implications.
|
alias | Won't show alias substitutions. |
Note: When you use the command
examine
, you always see the
description of a room, ridden
mounts, and wielded weapons (with or
without "spam" settings).
