BACKFIRE
A backfire will occur when you badly fail to cast a spell,
the effects become nastier as the spell level increases.
There is always a chance that a spell will backfire; improving one's knowledge of the spell can greatly reduce the probability that this happens. On the other hand, trying to cast a spell when you barely have sufficient mana for the incantation is very likely to result in a backfire, regardless of your skill.
Depending on the severity of the backfire, the effects can result in a loss of mana points, a loss of mana points and move points or a loss of mana points, move points and hit points.
Backfiring a low level spell will not cause great harm, backfiring a level 15 spell is another story…
