MUME Help
FAME, WAR POINTS, WARPOINTS, WPS
War points (WPs) are MUME's way of keeping
track of the best hunters in the game. You gain WPs by
killing players of the opposite side (evil
races for the good ones, and vice versa) who are either
high level compared to you and your
group or have WPs themselves. Once you are famous enough,
killing inexperienced characters by the hundreds will
not increase your fame: to become even more famous you will need to defeat
other famous characters.
The exact rules for handing out WPs are subject to change, and slightly secret.
War points are displayed as a number; as well, players are ranked according to categories such as these (example refers to members of the Free People)
- You are not known for any acts of war.
- You have been involved in some skirmishes against the minions of the Dark Lord.
- You have fought a few battles for the armies of the West.
- You have fought many battles for the armies of the West.
- You fought well in some important battles for the armies of the West.
- You have gained some renown in battles against the minions of the Dark Lord.
- You have exchanged deadly blows with the minions of the Dark Lord.
- You have been victorious in several battles against the minions of the Dark Lord.
- Many know of your recent victories on behalf of the armies of the West.
- Your deeds in battle spur on those who fight by your side.
- You have won great renown in battles for the armies of the West.
- Your prowess in battle is well known among the armies of the West.
- Tales of your victories have spread throughout Arda.
- You are widely recognised as a leader of the armies of the West.
- You are known among the greatest leaders of the armies of the West.
- Your campaign on behalf of the armies of the West has become legendary.
- Your supremacy in battle is beyond question.
Thresholds for these levels are not absolute, but relative to the average performance of one's allies. So, at the end of the day, a character who won a minor battle might have become less famous than before, because someone else won a spectacular fight at about the same time.
