NAME GENERATOR, SUGGEST NAME

Immerse yourself in Middle-earth lore with MUME's robust name generator, a must-have tool accessible at no cost to all players during character creation. Craft authentic character identities effortlessly with tailored name suggestions inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary universe. This feature is also accessible in-game via the suggest command:

Syntax:

  suggest name <gender> <race>

This command taps into MUME's name generator to propose a name based on the specified gender and race.

Example:

  > suggest name male hobbit

Accepted races/subraces

The name generator supports the following diverse races and subraces:

Beorning	Númenórean	Dunadan	Dwarf
Eriadorian	Half-elf	Hobbit	Noldor
Orc	Rohir	Troll	Silvan
Sindar

Some notes

Orc and troll characters, regardless of gender, draw from the same name pool.
Beornings and Eriadorians share a name pool.
Oldelf and oldorc were works in progress which both have decent-sized name pools to draw from. Their eventual fate is undecided.
Half-elves utilize the Sindarin name pool.

Words of warning

The name generator yields millions of potential names, some of which may not be suitable. Expect a mix of good and bad suggestions.

It is also likely that some names that break rules names can be generated. That a name came from the name generator does not give it a free pass from rules names or help namechange.
