The piercing weapons skill applies to all kinds of daggers, knives and similar - if they are wielded in one hand only.
Piercing weapons are all small and light-weight stabbers and piercers: daggers, knives, rapiers and similar weapons. Their main strength is their light weight and flexibility, making it possible to hit more often than with any other type of weapon. They don't do much damage compared to heavier weapons, but they are decent when it comes to defense. Also if you plan to sneak up and backstab an opponent, it will only be possible with a very small weapon, a piercer.
It takes great agility to master this skill; good eyesight and lots of muscle are important too.
