ISTARI QUEST
Players who reach level 20 or higher
with a sufficiently high alignment may choose to
undertake the Istari Quest.
How to Begin the Quest
Upon accepting the quest, the player is reset to level 21 and becomes an Istar. Their primary role from this point forward is to assist new players.
Progression and Completion
- The quest must be completed within 90 real-life days.
- An Istar only gains experience when leading a group of low level characters in non-Minion lands.
- They gain more experience from leading novices and champions than heroes. Leading legends provide them little experience.
-
An Istar can monitor their remaining time using the
time
command. - If the Istar reaches level 26 or higher, they may return to Valinor and listen to the Ainulindalë again to ascend to immortality and aid the Valar in expanding the game.
- If they fail to meet the conditions of the quest, the gift of Eru will be lost, with serious repercussions.
Benefits and Restrictions of the Istari Quest
Since an Istar is an apprentice immortal, they get benefits, but are also bound by stricter rules than normal players:
- Magically versed in all languages.
- No longer need food or water.
- Spell costs are reduced.
- Citizenship in all Free Folk towns.
- Cannot participate in race wars, except when defending the strongholds of the West during invasions.
- Must uphold the highest moral standards-- acting in defense of good.
- Same-side player killing is forbidden, unless the target is on Sauron's list.
