MUME Help
FORLOND, GREY HAVENS, HARLOND, HAVENS, MITHLOND
... but at the Grey Havens of Lindon there abode also a remnant of the people of Gil-galad the Elvenking. At times they would wander into the lands of Eriador, but for the most part they dwelt near the shores of the sea, building and tending the elven-ships wherein those of the Firstborn who grew weary of the world set sail into the uttermost West. Círdan the Shipwright was lord of the Havens and mighty among the Wise... --- JRR Tolkien, Silmarillion.
MUME's Grey Havens
What is called Grey Havens are the three cities of Mithlond, Harlond and Forlond. In MUME, the Grey Havens occupies the north and south banks of the Gulf of Lhûn, which divides it in two parts: the Harlond (to the north) and the Forlond (to the south). A ferry will help you to cross the miles of the Gulf that lie between them. You will find all sorts of inns, shops, or guilds in these two cities. The area of the Grey Havens is also considered very safe from the growing influence of the dark Shadows in the east and many young adventurers explore the lands.
This is the normal starting-place for elves and half-elves. It is a very peaceful seaport town; the magic of Círdan, its wise patriarch, keeps out all evil beings. The guards are bold and strong, and swift to attack evil people and punish evil acts!
Immediately outside the eastern gate of the Havens is a peaceful agricultural area. About 20 miles past the gate, one begins to see boar, wolves, and other game.
